Cameron Diaz is officially a mother to a newborn son! At 51, Diaz is now the proud mother of baby boy Cardinal, whom she shares with musician husband Benji Madden. Together, they also have baby girl Raddix, whose birth was announced in 2020.
Diaz and Madden, who is a musician with the band Good Charlotte, married in 2015. She is treating the birth of son Cardinal similarly to Raddix, in that she is sharing updates but will maintain privacy as their top priority. But she has had nothing but excitement to share with fans as she basks in the wonders of motherhood.

On Friday, Diaz took to Instagram to announce the birth of newborn son Cardinal. “We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden,” she shared. “He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here!”

“For the kids safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures,” Diaz added, but assured, “he’s a really cute. ️We are feeling so blessed and grateful. Sending much love from our fam to yours.”

Diaz reflects on the wonders of motherhood as she relives the wonders of her own childhood
Raddix, who was born via surrogate in December 2020, has been described by Diaz as “the best thing that ever happened to both Benj and I.” At the time, she made a similar Instagram announcement as Cardinal, saying, “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
While photos and the like have been limited concerning the kids, Diaz has been open about the surprising joys motherhood has brought her. “All mothers have that moment where you’re watching your child and they’re doing something the first time and you’re like, ‘I remember doing that!’ It’s really cool,” she marveled.
So, bringing in an addition to their family unit was a matter of when, not if. An insider told Us Weekly back in July 2022, “Cameron and Benji have discussed having another child and have even been looking into surrogate options for a while now. Benji always wanted a big family, and Cameron didn’t need to be persuaded after the arrival of their daughter.”
