Lisa Marie Presley died just days shy of her 55th birthday on January 12, 2023. On what would have been her 56th birthday, Lisa Marie was honored at Graceland, the palatial property her father Elvis owned that she used to call home, with an expanded exhibit known as Lisa Marie: Growing Up Presley.
Lisa Marie: Growing Up Presley explores the music artist’s life, from her upbringing with the King of Rock and Roll as a father, to the trials and tribulations – and glamour – of her adulthood. The tribute is housed across the street from the Graceland mansion in an area known as Elvis Presley’s Memphis exhibit space. On this particularly bittersweet occasion, the items on display have also been changed.

On February 1, on what would have been Lisa Marie’s 56th birthday, the Lisa Marie: Growing Up Presley exhibit reopened to celebrate her life and display new items that had belonged to her. Items include never-before-seen home videos and photos of Lisa Marie during her childhood, along with her personal golf cart, roller skates, clothes, and even baby footprints. Yearbooks and report cards are even included in this expanded exhibit.

“Lisa was born in Memphis and had always called Graceland home,” said Joel Weinshanker, majority owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises. I remember her first seeing a quote from her dad from the original exhibit that said she was the greatest thing that had ever happened to him, and her reaction will forever be etched into my brain. I know y’all will enjoy this amazing, expanded exhibition as much as she did.”
Lisa Marie’s treasures will be incorporated into Graceland’s extensive archive, which already includes 1.5 million items, according to Angie Marchese, vice president of archives and exhibits.
Lisa Marie’s family is also honoring the departed
This is the second of Lisa Marie’s birthdays that her mother, 78-year-old Priscilla Presley, has mourned the untimely passing of her daughter. On February 1, Priscilla took to Instagram to share a black-and-white photo of Lisa Marie hugging her from behind.
“I miss you ‘Yisa,’” Priscilla captioned the birthday tribute. “You would have been 56 today. Still young at heart and yet an old soul. Mom.”
Similarly, Lisa Marie’s daughter, 34-year-old Riley Keough, shared a photo of her mother in a denim jacket with her hair cut short. She captioned the post, “Happy Birthday mama.”
