On or off-screen, the late John Candy was a hilarious ball of fun with everyone, including a Channel 7 Buffalo News reporter, who needed a perm to interview the actor. A resurfaced clip showed Candy only granting audience if the interviewer agreed to join him in getting their hair done at Crimpers Haircutters.
Both men stayed put for their dual hair appointment in the ‘80s footage, which is making rounds again. Candy’s hair was for the movie Planes, Trains And Automobiles, where he worked alongside Steve Martin.

When asked if he ever got starstruck working with big names like himself, Candy responded, “Sure, absolutely. And then you meet him, and you realize he’s not funny at all.” In his kind nature, the sketch comedy actor ended the interview promoting the salon that touched up their hair.
Speaking of Candy’s loving nature, his daughter Jennifer Anne said he was much like his Uncle Buck character in Spaceballs. He balanced tough love with a playful side that loved to prank call friends with silly voices and ensure the atmosphere was never dull.
Candy died in his sleep due to a heart attack in 1994, and he has been remembered nearly year after year since then; his birthday, October 31st, was marked “John Candy Day” by his hometown in Toronto. His children paid tribute to him during the 29th anniversary of his death in March this year. “You will always be around. You will always be missed. You will always be loved,” Jennifer wrote on her Instagram with an old photo of herself and Candy.
His son, Chris, also penned a heartfelt note to remember his father, saying he misses him and thinks of him every day. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is set to release a documentary about Candy, highlighting his life as a father, a friend, and a personality beyond acting. He asked fans to “expect tears” from the much-anticipated production.
