Heartbroken Jennifer Aniston Broke Down In Tears Over Matthew Perry’s Addiction Back In 2004 Interview

Following the death of Friends star Matthew Perry, a video of Jennifer Aniston, who starred alongside the late actor, has resurfaced on the internet. The footage featured a 2004 interview of Aniston with Diane Sawyer, the year Friends ended.

During the discussion, Sawyer delved into various aspects of Aniston’s life and career, including her experiences working alongside her co-stars from the beloved TV series Friends. However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when Aniston was questioned about the late Matthew Perry.

Aniston found herself struggling to contain her emotions as she opened up about Perry’s battles with alcohol and substance abuse. Matthew’s addiction struggles originated from a prescription of Vicodin he received after a jet ski accident in 1997.

In the video, the 54-year-old further highlighted the fact that Matthew managed to keep his addiction struggles discreet. “He struggled. We didn’t know,” Aniston admitted. “We weren’t equipped to deal with it.” However, by the time his Friends co-star realized, the actor was neck-deep in addiction, which took a toll on his health as he was hospitalized due to pancreatitis linked to his alcohol consumption.

Jennifer Aniston says she was afraid that he might die

Aniston went on to explain that while he was in the hospital, the harsh reality of Perry’s mortality became incredibly daunting and terrifying. “You know, nobody had ever dealt with that and, you know, the idea of even losing him,” she added. “He’s having a rough road, but he is alright.”

Thankfully, Matthew became sober years after and was even on the verge of starting a foundation to help people suffering from substance abuse before his sudden death.
