Following recent revelations regarding Dyan Cannon’s relationship with ex-husband, Cary Grant, the Revenge of the Pink Panther actress was spotted out in Los Angeles. She wore a black high-neck top with a matching trouser suit and heart-shaped shades.
The 86-year-old showed off her blonde curls and applied light makeup to complete the look. She strolled the street and grabbed lunch with a friend at Brentwood. Dyan looked ageless and flaunted her slender frame as she strutted by.
Dyan and Grant had a tumultuous marriage which began in 1965 and ended in divorce in 1968, nearly two decades before Grant’s death. The Academy Award-winning actress said she was reminded of their love while going through his old notes. “About four months ago, I was going through my safe, and I found some notes from him that was so adorable and made me understand why I fell in love with him,” she said.
She was only 28 when she married 61-year-old Grant. They welcomed daughter Jennifer, the following year and split shortly after. In Dyan’s memoir, Dear Cary: My Life With Cary Grant, she gave details of what led to their estrangement; however, she recently admitted to omitting some aspects because Grant “had so many people who loved him and I didn’t want to take the stars out of their eyes.”
Dyan shared that her late ex-husband was controlling and highly critical of her with the most trivial things, including how she parked her car, spoke with the postman, or if she placed her glass on a coaster. “I never knew what was going to set him off next, and when he wasn’t at work, he trailed me around the house, listing my shortcomings,” she wrote.
Grant moved on and married his fifth wife, Barbara Harris, who acknowledged that the birth of his only child with Dyan “brought him great love.” Jennifer followed her parent’s trail in Hollywood and has built a thriving acting career of her own. “Jennifer is my greatest production. She’s the most winsome, captivating girl I’ve ever known, and I’ve known quite a few. We have an honest relationship. We level with each other,” her dad once said.
