Meryl Streep was at the 2023 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles this Sunday, along with her son Henry Wolfe and three daughters— Mamie Gummer, Grace Gummer, and Louisa Jacobson. Henry’s wife, Tamryn Storm Hawker, and Grace’s husband, Mark Ronson, were also present.
The actress received the Academy Museum Gala Icon Award, which was presented by her former colleague Greta Gerwig. Meryl looked fulfilled in a black knee-length dress, court shoes, and a matching purse as she posed for photos, flanked by her children and their spouses.

Meryl and her ex-husband of 45 years, Don Gummer, recently revealed their 6-year-long separation via The Mirror in a statement which reads, “Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than six years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.”

The couple first met in 1978 after Meryl’s brother introduced them; they got married six months later, moving into their private Connecticut estate in 1985. They briefly moved to a $3 million mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles, before finally returning to Connecticut. Now that they are separated, “they’re on friendly terms” and reportedly live together but “have separate bedrooms at their homes on both coasts.”
Meryl’s kids love their parents’ friendship
Fans could not tell Meryl was separated from Don as she often wore her wedding band during appearances. An insider revealed she “wears the ring out of habit” and that her kids like it. “She still loves Don. It’s very funny; she says the kids scope out her ring finger every time she sees them,” they said.
Beyond playing iconic roles as a Hollywood actress, Meryl admitted in 1998 that her role as a mother has been her most “difficult” yet. “Acting— that’s praise, money, fulfillment. Mothering — they don’t even say, ‘Thank you.’ They don’t even clear the table unless you say, ‘Excuuuse me.’ Real life, there’s no comparison to acting,” she told The Washington Post as a then-49-year-old mom.
