In a recent episode of Dancing with the Stars, actress Selma Blair announced that she was leaving the show due to health concerns. Selma was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 and has chronicled her journey with fans in the past few years.
Selma shared, “This has been such an awakening in ways that I didn’t think would happen in my lifetime. I didn’t think I’d even have this earnestness in my lifetime to genuinely want to do this and forgetting even my disabilities or my chronic illness.”

She added, “What these celebrities and pros put together…for real passion…of self-love and acceptance…it’s a really wonderful reminder. To be embraced by these people, my heart’s broken in the best way. Thank you, everybody.”

All of the current contestants came together to talk about what a great person and competitor Selma is. They all admitted that quitting was the most responsible thing for her to do but that didn’t make it any easier to see her go. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Joseph Baena said he wishes her the best and is happy that he “gained a good friend.”
Country music star Jessie James Decker added, “It was emotional. We were all sobbing because it’s not just about her story, but because we love her…she is such a light in our lives, and we’re going to miss her.”
Selma’s 11-year-old son also shared in her final episode of the show, “I’m really proud of my mom for what she did tonight, and just score a perfect score of 40…that’s the first person to do it. I thought it was really amazing.”
