72-year-old Sigourney Weaver isn’t slowing down anytime soon. She currently has five projects coming out and said that she doesn’t ever want to retire. One of her upcoming projects is the highly-anticipated film December’s Avatar: The Way of Water.
When asked if she would like to retire, Sigourney responded, “I would hope not, because I probably enjoy it more now than ever. I’m fine that I might be the oldest person on the set. Yes, I always have to go through a period of, ‘Oh my god, it’s happening again.’”

She added, “But then, I get the joy and the explosion of letting this person out to live. And it’s the most exhilarating thing in the world.” Sigourney has worked on over 70 films in the last few decades. Her big break was in the film Alien back in 1979.

While she appreciates any accolades that come her way, Sigourney said the work itself is really what excites her and keeps her going. She explained, “What I’m really excited about this year is that with five things coming out, I’m able to see what’s important to me as an artist: this transformation physically from one character to another, from one situation to another.”
She continued, “It’s much more important to me to have had these opportunities than to hold a statuette in my hand.” It is good news for her fans that she doesn’t plan to stop acting anytime soon!
