Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of the late Eddie Van Halen, is slamming a critic who claimed he’s “riding his dad’s coattails.” Ever since his famous father passed away, Wolfgang has been dealing with constant criticism and comparisons of him and his dad. As Wolfgang prepares to hold his first round of shows with his band, a critic responded to an article about the musician, saying, “Sorry, there are many better bands out there. He is riding his dads’ coat tails. He is not awful but I see bands at local bars that are as good.”
Wolfgang promptly responded, “I would love for someone to explain to me how I’m riding my father’s coattails by recording an album all on my own and not playing any Van Halen songs haha.”

Wolfgang has been fighting against “factually wrong” criticism ever since his father passed, as aforementioned. He’s made his own statements on Twitter trying to get the criticism under control as best he can. “My favorite criticism of my music thus far has been “I’m not a fan of programmed drums” which is hilarious to me because I literally tracked to f–king tape lol It’s fun when people’s opinions on why things are bad are literally just factually wrong,” he wrote back in March.

“Only 2 songs are out, can y’all at least wait for the whole thing to shit on it? Gracias.”
He will continue to speak out against unfair criticism

Wolfgang and his band have recently teamed up with the legendary Guns N Roses for a summer tour. He’s generally been receiving a ton of positive feedback, but continues to reiterate that he will “speak his mind” about criticism on social media. “Long story short: I’m gonna continue to speak my mind and be myself on social media and if anyone has a problem with that, well then y’all can just f–k off.”
