Today singer-songwriter, musician, and bandleader Maurice White has passed away at the age of 74. Maurice died in L.A. after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was diagnosed in 1992 and is finally at peace.
Maurice was best know as leader and founder of Earth, Wind & Fire. In 2000, the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Maurice was individually inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. His horn-driven band sold more than 90 million albums and made hits like “September,” ”Shining Star” and “Boogie Wonderland.”
Loved them….but, Lol in the “September” clip, how come there’s no cords from the guitar/bass to the amps? How come we can here Maurice hold a note when he pulls the microphone away from his face?
They were truly together greater than the sum of their parts. Such a loss.
