Walmart is hoping to compete with Amazon Prime with its new membership program Walmart+. The program has officially launched and offers benefits in-store and online. All customers will be able to purchase Walmart+ on September 15, 2020. About 2,700 stores will now offer same-day delivery.
Members will also receive unlimited free delivery from stores, new shopping tools, and fuel discounts. The program includes a 15-day free trial and then it will cost $98 per year or $12.95 per month after that.
Walmart+ is launching very soon
Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer said, “We are a company committed to meeting our customers’ needs. Customers know they can trust us and depend on us, and we’ve designed this program as the ultimate life hack for them. Walmart+ will bring together a comprehensive set of benefits where we see the greatest needs from our customers and where our scale can bring solutions at an unprecedented value.”
She continued, “Life feels more complicated than ever. Walmart+ is designed to make it easier – giving customers an option to not have to sacrifice on cost or convenience. We know shopping should fit customers’ needs, not the other way around. We have always been a champion for the right item at the right price, but now it’s more than that.”
One of the new shopping tools is called Scan & Go. Located in the Walmart app, it will allow people to scan, shop, and pay as they go through the store. This will eliminate the need to go to the cash register, which should be faster, easier, and safer for many customers.
