Wedding

Jim Carrey is a married man again. According to TMZ, the 64-year-old comedy legend wed his girlfriend, Min Ah, in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. USA Today reported that his representatives confirmed the news to People and Entertainment Weekly. The exact date of the wedding has not been shared, which feels fitting for a couple who kept their romance quiet for years. The two have reportedly been linked since at least 2022, but they did not step out together officially until February 26 of this year. That night Carrey accepted an honorary César Award in Paris with his daughter Jane and his grandson Jackson by his side. He thanked his family from the stage and then turned to the woman sitting with them. "Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah," he said, according to USA Today. "I love you, Min Ah." He was married to Melissa Womer from 1987 to 1995, and Jane is their daughter. He then married his 'Dumb and Dumber' co-star Lauren Holly in 1996, and that union ended the following year. Little is publicly known about Min Ah, and the couple seems content to keep it that way. Longtime fans remember the rubber-faced kid from Canada making his first 'Tonight Show' appearance opposite Johnny Carson. They have watched him grow from young impressionist to box office king to proud grandfather. Now they get to see him as a newlywed, and it is hard to think of a happier next chapter for a man who has made so many people laugh. Why Don't We See Jim Carrey Anymore? Jim Carrey/Everett Updated October 14, 2026: Since news of the wedding broke, one question keeps coming up: why does Jim Carrey seem to have disappeared from the movies? The short answer is that he chose to step back. In April 2022, while promoting 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2,' he told Access Hollywood that he was retiring and that he was "being fairly serious," according to NewsNation. He said he felt he had done enough and that he loved his quiet life, his painting, and his spiritual life. He did leave the door open just a crack. "If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break," he said. Carrey returned as Dr. Robotnik in 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' in December 2024, playing both the villain and his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. At the London premiere, he was disarmingly honest about why he said yes. "I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius. Which is a bit of a stretch," he told The Associated Press, as reported by TheWrap. "And, you know, it's just I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly." Asked about his old promise to wait for a script written in gold ink, he laughed. "That might have been hyperbole," he said. He has talked openly about how much he loves painting, and he kept his relationship with Min Ah out of the public eye for years. Their first official appearance together came only this February, when he accepted his honorary César in Paris and delivered his speech in French. For fans who grew up with 'Ace Ventura,' 'The Mask,' 'Dumb and Dumber,' and 'Liar Liar,' it can be strange to see so little of him. But the man who spent the '90s making the world laugh seems to have found exactly what he was looking for: a quiet life, his art, his family, and now a new wife.
