We’ve seen Pawn Stars, the hit History Channel show that chronicles the unusual items brought into a Las Vegas pawn shop. Things can get pretty weird on that show. (Scripted or not, it’s entertaining.) It’s not just the show. All across the country, people bring awfully strange things into pawn stores (at least according to Reddit and Warped Speed). Take a look. 1. Gold Fillings Instagram/josephnewelldds Gold fillings of dead relatives are more commonly brought into pawn shops than you’d think. Worse than that, one pawn shop worker reported that a drug addict wandered in, fetched pliers from a basket of loose tools, and pulled out four gold teeth right there and then. 2. Stainless Steel That Was Claimed to Be Sterling Pixabay You have to have some major cojones to try and pass stainless steel for sterling, but that’s just what one woman did, according to a pawn shop owner. Not only that, but she threatened to kill herself if an offer didn’t match what she thought her silverware was worth! 3. Nazi Pocket Watches Pixabay This one is more sad than crazy. An old man, a WWII vet, wanted to sell his war trophies. It was a collection of Nazi pocket watches that he took from the bodies of dead soldiers. But rather than making a dime off of his historic memorabilia, he claimed that he wanted to rid them to get a clean slate and forget about that traumatic part of his past. 4. Animals Pixabay All over the country, pawn store owners have had to deal with people trying to make a buck off some animals. In an inner-city store (this will be relevant), a man wanted to pawn his herd of cattle. A lady also attempted to trade in a horse that possessed both male and female genitalia. 5. An Urn With Ashes PxHere It’s not unusual for someone to come in and try to sell an unused urn: People often buy them before they’re necessary and then end up needing the money. One Reddit user told a more unnerving story: “When I took it from his hands it was way too heavy to be empty. He tells me that it contains the ashes of his dead baby daughter.” Some ashes spilled on his hands. Gross, and so wrong. 6. Glass Eyes Wikimedia Commons It has been related by two different Reddit users that there have been people who wish to pawn their glass eyes, but they wait until they are at the pawn shop counter to remove them. How very thoughtful of them. 7. Civil-Rights Movement Potato YouTube/Larry Padget This one was on Pawn Stars. Just like Chumlee wasn’t buying pawner Sean Price’s Civil Rights Movement-era potato (which Price claimed hit Martin Luther King Jr.), we aren’t buying his seriousness as a pawner. He was a little too happy to settle for $2 after asking for $100,000 for the historic vegetable. Phony alert! 8. Vintage Pepsi Cans Flickr/Eli Duke We wouldn’t blame you if you thought that limited-edition Pepsi cans from days bygone could be worth a pretty penny. The seller on this episode of Pawn Stars actually knew better, though. He asked for the terribly modest sum of $50, but still only managed to get $20. You may want to stop collecting these worthless tins now. 9. Dinosaur Eggs Pixabay Like the Pepsi cans, dinosaur eggs are surprisingly not worth a whole lot — or at least not worth the amount you’d expect for ancient natural artifacts! The seller at the Pawn Stores shop came in proposing a cool $20,000. He only got $500 for his bunch because there are actually thousands of these wonders on the market. 10. Bodily Fluids of Famous People Pixabay We’re going to end on a fairly disgusting note, so brace yourselves. A Reddit user asserts that once, in his uncle’s pawn shop in Detroit, a lady presented a pickle jar full of unappetizing brownish-yellow liquid. She claimed it was a combination of urine, feces, blood, and other bodily fluids once having belonged to Eminem, Kid Rock, and politician Kwame Kilpatrick.
