"Jennifer, she says, 'We know you're drinking,'" noted Sawyer during the interview. To this, Perry replied, "Yeah, imagine how scary a moment that was." Aniston had been the first among the Friends cast to put to word what Perry was struggling with. Speaking on TODAY, Aniston noted, "I didn't understand the level of anxiety and self-torture that was put on Matthew Perry if he didn't get that laugh, and the devastation that he felt. Which makes a lot of sense." Nevertheless, Aniston's words prompted a time of reflection and Perry did not like what he saw. "It's like penguins. Penguins, in nature, when one is sick, or when one is very injured, the other penguins surround it and prop it up. They walk around it until that penguin can walk on its own.
