Joy Behar remains away from The View as she recovers from a dislocated shoulder just before her 84th birthday. The longtime co-host has now missed several consecutive episodes while taking time to heal.
According to People, the latest Joy Behar The View update came on Oct. 6, when Whoopi Goldberg told viewers that Behar was still out and that Ana Navarro would join the panel. Behar last appeared on the show Sept. 30, and the program has not yet announced when she will return.
Joy Behar: The View Absence Continues During Recovery

Sunny Hostin first explained Behar’s absence on Oct. 1, telling viewers that her friend had dislocated her shoulder and was recovering. Since then, Behar has missed four episodes in addition to her regular Monday off, bringing her absence to five episodes in a row.

The timing makes the situation especially noticeable because Behar turns 84 on Oct. 7. Last year, The View marked her birthday with flowers, cake, and an on-air celebration. This year, her recovery has temporarily kept her away from the table instead.
Behar Remains a Major Part of ‘The View’ History

The Joy Behar The View connection goes back to the show’s beginning. Behar is the only original panelist who still regularly hosts the daytime talk show, now in its 30th year. She has also hosted more seasons of a talk show than any other woman, a milestone she recently joked made her feel old. Behar has fondly recalled working with creator Barbara Walters, once telling her they would grow old on the show. Walters replied that they would grow older either way, so they might as well do it on television.
That exchange feels especially fitting now. Nearly three decades after The View debuted, Behar remains one of the program’s most recognizable voices. Her current absence may have changed the lineup temporarily, but her place in the show’s history remains firmly established. For longtime viewers, the Joy Behar The View update is less about a dramatic exit and more about waiting for a familiar face to recover and return to the table.
