Jamie Lee Curtis is remembering her mother, Janet Leigh, with a touching tribute more than two decades after the Hollywood legend’s death. The Oscar-winning actress marked the 22nd anniversary of Leigh’s passing by sharing a candid photo that captured a much more relaxed side of the Psycho star.
According to Entertainment Weekly, for fans of classic Hollywood, the Jamie Lee Curtis-Janet Leigh connection carries an added layer of nostalgia. Both women became closely associated with horror cinema, but their bond extended far beyond their famous screen roles. Curtis has continued to celebrate her mother publicly through family photographs, anniversaries, and personal memories that keep Leigh’s legacy close.

Curtis shared the remembrance on Oct. 3, posting a rare image of Leigh enjoying a bubble bath. Alongside the photo, she wrote, “Long time gone this day. Love and misses to my mother.” Leigh died on Oct. 3, 2004, at age 77 after suffering from vasculitis, an inflammation of the blood vessels.

The post followed several other tributes Curtis has shared throughout 2026. On what would have been Leigh’s 99th birthday in July, Curtis posted a memorial video celebrating the many roles her mother held throughout her life, from actress and author to mother and grandmother. She also remembered Leigh on Mother’s Day with a black-and-white photograph of the pair laughing together.
Their Hollywood Story Spanned Generations
Before becoming Janet Leigh, the actress was Jeanette Helen Morrison, and her road to Hollywood began unexpectedly. A photograph of the young Leigh taken during a ski trip caught the attention of movie star Norma Shearer, helping put her image in front of talent executive Lew Wasserman. Leigh eventually signed with MGM and appeared in films including The Romance of Rosy Ridge and Little Women.

Leigh later earned acclaim for films including Touch of Evil, The Manchurian Candidate, Bye Bye Birdie, and Psycho, which brought her an Oscar nomination. The Jamie Lee Curtis/Janet Leigh story also reached the screen, with the pair appearing together in The Fog, Halloween H20, and The Love Boat. Curtis has long spoken warmly of her mother, praising both her career and the woman she was proud to call a friend.
