Dolly Parton Streams Soar as Fans Revisit Her Biggest Songs
According to Luminate data shared with USA TODAY, Parton’s catalog generated 41.8 million global audio and video streams on Aug. 25, representing a 1,549% increase from the previous day. The following day, her worldwide audio streams climbed to nearly 80 million. “Jolene” experienced one of the biggest jumps. The 1974 favorite went from approximately 196,000 streams on Aug. 24 to 3.3 million the following day and 4 million on Aug. 26. That renewed attention pushed the song to No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, far above its original peak of No. 60 more than 50 years ago.
Parton’s original recording of “I Will Always Love You” also reached the Hot 100 for the first time, debuting at No. 27. Her 1982 rerecording had previously reached No. 53, while Whitney Houston famously transformed the ballad into a global phenomenon in the 1990s.

The surge went far beyond those songs.
