Dolly Parton’s younger sister, Stella Parton, is sharing a moving detail about the country legend’s final days. In a tribute posted after Dolly’s death at 80, Stella revealed that her sister was still thinking about how she might help others, even while facing her own health battle.

According to People, the latest Dolly Parton sister tribute offers an especially personal glimpse into the woman behind the rhinestones and songs. Stella said Dolly told her that if doctors reached a point where there was no hope for her recovery, she would still consider experimental treatment if it could help future patients.

Stella described Dolly as one of the most generous and thoughtful people she had ever known. She said the public version of Dolly matched the woman her family knew privately, especially when it came to kindness and giving.

That spirit apparently remained intact during her final days. Stella said Dolly was willing to let doctors try experimental drugs if there was a chance the information could benefit others later. Parton’s representatives previously confirmed that she died after a brief battle with cancer, though they did not disclose the type. Stella encouraged fans who want to honor her sister to follow the example Dolly set by showing more kindness, helping others, and giving their time and resources when they can.

Their Tuesday Morning Coffee Tradition Meant Everything

The Dolly Parton sister bond also included a much quieter tradition. Stella said she and Dolly spent years sharing early Tuesday morning coffee chats over the phone, a ritual they affectionately called their “kaffeklatsch.” The sisters would talk before sunrise, catch up on gossip, and make plans for the days ahead. Stella said the habit reflected their upbringing on a Tennessee farm, where early mornings were simply part of life. Now, she admits those Tuesdays will never feel the same. Still, she believes Dolly’s love, humor, and generosity will remain with her. Stella also said the enormous outpouring of affection from fans has helped the Parton family through their grief.

The sisters grew up among 12 children, and Stella has spoken about the deep “soul connection” of sibling bonds. Her grief is not only for a global icon but also for the sister she laughed, shared coffee with, and talked with. For Stella, the best way to honor Dolly is simple: live with more kindness.
