Their second son, Robert Asher, arrived on October 5, 1965, while Bewitched was enjoying its early success. Montgomery’s real-life pregnancy even influenced Samantha’s storyline during the show’s second season. Robert eventually followed his parents into entertainment and built a career as an editor and producer. His credits include the 2022 Netflix series Instant Dream Home. Rebecca Asher, Montgomery and Asher’s youngest child and only daughter, was born in 1969. She pursued a behind-the-scenes entertainment career as an editor and director, with credits including Donnie Darko, Anchorman, Knocked Up, and Big Mood. Like her brother Robert, Rebecca entered the film and television industry, while Bill pursued music and instrument making. All three have maintained relatively private lives.
Montgomery married four times during her life. She welcomed all three children during her marriage to William Asher, which lasted until 1973. In 1993, she married actor Robert Foxworth, who remained her husband until her death two years later.
