Rod Stewart Cancels Upcoming Concerts After Heart Procedure

by Ruth A

Published August 12, 2026

Rod Stewart has canceled his upcoming performances while he recovers from a heart procedure. The 81-year-old singer recently underwent a routine coronary stent procedure, and his doctors want him to spend the next several weeks regaining his strength.

According to People, the decision affects the remaining dates on his current tour, including six Las Vegas residency shows planned for late August. Fans hoping to attend a Rod Stewart concert will have to wait, but the singer has already shared encouraging news about his recovery.

Stewart’s doctors say his recovery is progressing well, and he has already returned to his normal daily activities. However, they advised him to take four weeks away from performing so he can recuperate and regain full fitness. He had planned to remain on the road through Sept. 3 before the procedure changed those plans.

Stewart also reassured fans that he already feels better and remains “very much on the mend.” He thanked the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for him. Although disappointed about canceling the shows, the “Maggie May” singer said he looks forward to returning to the stage and having a good time with fans again.

Recent Health Problems Have Interrupted His Tour

The heart procedure follows several other health setbacks for the legendary singer. Two days before announcing the cancellations, Stewart postponed a Cincinnati show because he needed prompt medical attention. Earlier this summer, an acute upper respiratory infection, laryngitis, and vocal strain also forced him to cancel or postpone several performances.

Despite those interruptions, Stewart has repeatedly rejected the idea of retirement. In 2025, he said he still loved performing and had no plans to walk away from music. Therefore, the latest Rod Stewart concert cancellations appear to mark a temporary break rather than the end of his touring career. For now, Stewart plans to focus on recovering before returning to the stage.
