Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere know their famous last names can open doors in Hollywood. Instead of avoiding the conversation, the two rising stars are addressing their advantages directly. Both spoke candidly about nepotism, career opportunities, and the pressure to prove themselves while appearing together in Vogue’s September 2026 cover story.

According to Fox News, the Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere pairing is especially interesting because of their family history. Gerber is the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford, while Gere is the son of actor Richard Gere. Crawford and Richard were married from 1991 to 1995 and appeared together on the cover of Vogue in 1992. More than three decades later, their children are sharing a cover while starring together in Ryan Murphy’s FX series The Shards.

She Admits Her Famous Family Has Helped Her Career

Gerber did not attempt to downplay the advantages that came with being Crawford’s daughter. Speaking with Vogue, the 24-year-old acknowledged that she has benefited from her family connections throughout her career. She also admitted that she sometimes questions whether other celebrity children deserve the opportunities they receive. “Okay, show me why you deserve this job,” she said of her initial reaction.

Gerber started modeling at a young age before expanding into acting. Her credits now include several projects with Ryan Murphy, and The Shards puts her alongside another performer facing similar questions about family privilege.

Homer Gere Took a Different Route Into Hollywood Than Kaia Gerber

Despite being Richard Gere’s son, Homer did not immediately pursue acting. The 26-year-old told Vogue that he grew up largely outside the Hollywood environment and had never been on a professional set until last year. Instead, he studied visual arts at Brown University and became involved with student filmmaking. His path changed after a talent manager saw one of his student films and encouraged his acting career.

Gere eventually auditioned for The Shards as well as HBO’s Euphoria, earning roles in both projects. Still, he understands that his father’s fame will influence how audiences view his success. Gerber even warned him that viewers would not judge him like an unknown actor making his debut. For Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere, the challenge now is turning access into lasting careers.
