Carrie Fisher’s Brother Explained Her Unusual Final Resting Place

by Ruth A

Published June 11, 2026

Carrie Fisher was known for sharp humor, honesty, and a personality that never fit neatly into Hollywood expectations. Even in the way her family chose to honor her, that spirit remained clear. Her brother, Todd Fisher, later explained why her ashes were placed in an urn shaped like a giant Prozac pill.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Carrie Fisher had owned the oversized pill for years and considered it one of her favorite possessions. After her private memorial, Todd said he and Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, felt it was exactly the kind of resting place she would have wanted.

Todd Fisher Said The Urn Reflected Her Personality

Todd explained that the giant Prozac pill had been in his sister’s home for a long time. It was not chosen at random or meant to shock people. To the family, it reflected Fisher’s humor, her openness, and the way she had always faced life with boldness and honesty.

He said they could not find anything else that felt appropriate. Fisher had loved the object, so placing her ashes there felt personal and fitting. Todd also said she and their mother, Debbie Reynolds, would remain together, both in memory and in spirit. That detail made the choice feel tender, even though the urn itself was unusual.

Her Family Focused On Strength, Love, And Legacy

The explanation came after Reynolds’ funeral in Los Angeles, which followed Fisher’s private memorial. Todd Fisher, Fisher-Price, and the Little People said the family was coping as best it could after two devastating losses. He encouraged people to remember what both women left behind: Fisher’s wit, films, and cultural impact; and Reynolds’ decades of performance and resilience. Together, they left a legacy that touched generations of fans.

Carrie Fisher became a cultural icon through Star Wars, but fans also admired her honesty, humor, and writing. Todd Fisher described both Carrie and Debbie Reynolds as strong, resilient women, comparing them to Molly Brown, a role Reynolds famously played. Their lasting work and fearless spirit helped make them unforgettable, and Fisher’s final resting place reflects that legacy.
