Elton John has commented on the video of him that recently went viral, which many people are now calling the “Elton John meltdown.” The short clip broke the internet on Thursday and has caused a stir among fans and critics. In it, he was upset in the recording studio while working on his latest project, Who Believes In Angels? alongside singer Brandi Carlile.
Different from what many knew him for, Elton vented his frustration and called the situation a nightmare before storming out of the scene. For a 77-year-old successful singer who has “decades of success and decades of hits,” this video became a glimpse into his life behind the stage.

In a recent interview, Elton John opened up about that unexpected moment, explaining that he was not in a good space emotionally. “I was tired, grumpy, and incredibly nervous,” he admitted. His discomfort was palpable as he described feeling overwhelmed by self-doubt, a kind of sentiment that had plagued him even as they were creating the new album.
Brandi Carlile was also present during the session, and he shared his perspective on Magic FM’s Mellow Magic show with Nicki Chapman, also remarking that Elton John was very nervous, which is unusual for him.
Elton John does not see his health challenge as a limitation
When asked about the reasons he was nervous, Elton John explained that the pressure of being a celebrity and maintaining it caught up with him at that moment, “For someone who’s been in the spotlight for so long, admitting that you’re nervous takes a lot of courage,” he said and went on to reveal that he was battling with self-doubt when they were just starting the album.
Despite the breakdown, Elton John is determined not to let personal health challenges limit him. He emphasized that Who Believes In Angels? is a brand new beginning for him as it feels like “a doorway to another era.” He has pushed both himself and other team members to achieve his goal of making an album from scratch in just 20 days, which in itself is enough to create pressure.
