In the past seven decades of McDonald’s existence, the fast food chain has evolved through time, customer tastes, and menu changes. Popular offerings such as the Egg McMuffin, Chicken McNuggets, and the Happy Meal arrived in the ‘80s.
The ‘90s saw the introduction of the McChicken Sandwich and one more menu item that has been long forgotten— the McPizza. It was added as a test product and was sold in select locations for a limited period, but some customers hope for a comeback.
Do you remember the McDonald’s McPizza menu item?
The McPizza came in three different flavors: Cheese, Cheese and pepperoni, and the Deluxe, which contained cheese, green pepper, onion, pepperoni, and more toppings. The 8-inch pizza was split into four slices and presented as breakfast or lunch for city workers to order via telephone or fax.
It was discontinued shortly after in all except two locations that sold for a few more years. However, customers can still get pizza at the world’s largest McDonald’s in Orlando, Florida. New items joined the McDonald’s lineup, including the McFlurry, which is still a bestseller today.

Reddit users remember the McPizza
Decades after McDonald’s quit making pizza, some customers still have memories of the dish and took to a Reddit thread to bond over the experience. “Haven’t had in 30 years, but I can still taste it. It was soooooo good,” someone gushed, while another added that it was one of their fondest food memories as a kid.
It is uncertain whether the fast food giant may reconsider a comeback for McPizza, with many pizza brands, including Domino’s, Pizza Hut, and Papa John’s, dominating the market. “I’d have to say it was dramatically underrated if people think it was a flop,” a Redditor argued. “Better than lots of pizza chains. It was surprisingly great.”
