Gary Sinise lost his son Anthony “Mac” Sinise to chordoma, a rare cancer of the spine, earlier this year. Mac was only 33 when he died, and Gary was devastated by the tragic occurrence, especially because his son had just returned to making music again.
Nearly a year after Mac’s passing, Gary shared a post on Reddit disclosing his new find of Mac’s music compositions. He shared his plans to pay tribute to his late songwriter son by releasing an album, and then giving the proceeds to charity.
Gary Sinise’s late son was a promising aspiring music artist
Mac was Gary’s youngest child with his wife Moria Harris, and he grew to be actively involved in the family foundation, The Gary Sinise Foundation, working as an assistant manager of education & outreach, and on their podcast shortly before his demise.
He also pursued his passion for songwriting at the USC Thornton School of Music, after which he joined his father’s Lieutenant Dan’s band. Gary was the greatest influence on Mac’s interests, as he often took him to military bases and the foundation’s charity events from a young age.

Honoring Mac Sinise’s legacy
Gary found letters, videos, and songs Mac had hidden away in his devices, including music from as far back as college and some inspired by the family foundation. He collaborated with Mac’s friends to create an album titled Resurrection & Revival, which is available in a special edition double vinyl.
As a nod to the late star’s passion, all funds from the album will go to the Gary Sinise’s Foundation, just like he would have loved. The body is work is evidence of Mac’s range as it features several genres including folk and new age sound. The new release comes just in time for Mac’s posthumous 34th birthday this weekend when the project will officially launch.
