ELO founder and frontman Jeff Lynne broke the news of Tandy’s passing on social media, while also paying tribute to his dear friend and collaborator. He shared a picture of both of them and a clip of Tandy playing the piano while he sang and played the guitar, Lynne praised the late keyboardist for being a talented musician and a cherished companion, whose contributions to the band’s legendary sound will be deeply missed.

“It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of my long-time collaborator and dear friend Richard Tandy,” he wrote via X. “He was a remarkable musician & friend and I’ll cherish the lifetime of memories we had together.”
Tandy’s passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolences from fellow musicians and fans around the world, some of whom took to the comment section of Lynne’s post. “So sorry to hear of the passing of Richard Tandy.
