Jeff Lynne's ELO announced the Over and Out tour

After over half a century of genre-redefining rock and roll, Jeff Lynne and his Electric Light Orchestra are embarking on their farewell tour. The concerts are called the Over and Out Tour, which starts on August 24 in Palm Desert, California. From there, Lynne’s ELO will embark on the 27-date concert, ending on October 25 in Los Angeles.

ELO’s last tour was in 2018, which itself was the group’s first U.S. tour in over 30 years, according to Live Nation Entertainment. Live Nation is responsible for producing the Over and Out tour. The group formally disbanded in 1986, with Lynne developing his solo career and working with the likes of Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Joe Walsh, and more. Here is what to expect from this much-anticipated farewell tour.

By the time of this writing, no international dates have been announced, but Variety anticipates a tour in Europe and other territories after the North American leg of Lynne’s farewell tour is wrapped up. Its 2018 tour took the band to Ireland, the U.K., Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway.

Variety praised Lynne’s 2018 tour, saying, “A brilliant catalog returns to U.S. stages and gives the strings-starved people what they want.” ELO’s last tour included a setlist comprised of 20 songs — most other concerts average around 12 to 15 songs.

That list was also loaded with treasured hits from ELO’s discography, including “Don’t Bring Me Down,” “Do Ya,” “Telephone Line,” and “Evil Woman,” USA Today notes.

ELO was formed to create a blend of modern rock and pop songs forged with classical overtones the whole way, a vision shared by Lynne as well as fellow multi-instrumentalist Roy Wood. Wood parted ways in the 1970s and the group would undergo a few starts and stops, but Jeff Lynne’s ELO reformed in earnest in 2014. Along the way, they amassed fifteen Top 20 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100.
