Dick Van Dyke was involved in a car accident on March 22. Dyke lost control of his 2018 Lexus LS 500 and crashed into a gate. The rain and the slick California roadways arguably contributed to the accident, but no other vehicles were affected.
Thankfully, Dyke only suffered minor injuries and was recently seen on a stroll with his wife, Arlene Silver, going about just fine. He looked alright with a few scrapes on his face, though he admitted to Daily Mail that he was “sore all over.” The 97-year-old assured concerned fans and friends that he was feeling “pretty good” regardless.

At the time of the accident, Dyke had a bleeding nose and mouth, and the paramedics arrived to treat him at the accident scene. They noted that he suffered a mild concussion but did not need to go to the hospital. After receiving treatment, a friend picked Dyke up because he was still in shock and too shaken to drive home by himself.

Also, the authorities confirmed that Dyke was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and the road conditions contributed to the accident. The police have also made a request to the California DMV that the actor takes a driving test due to his age.
Dyke thanks his wife for taking care of him.
While speaking with Daily Mail Dyke gave further details on the accident, revealing that his airbag didn’t deploy as expected, so he “just did a faceplant right into the steering wheel,” resulting in two stitches on his lip due to the impact. “It just made me a little dumber,” Dyke joked.
He also chipped in that he’s 97 and all his “friends are dead.” The four-time Emmy winner continued to lighten the fussy atmosphere, adding that he is “having fun” as he nears a century. Dyke also mentioned his wife and thanked her for taking care of him. He admitted that without her, he would “probably be dead.”
