Country singer Ashley McBryde’s career is blossoming and she was nominated for several CMA Awards. However, she admitted that she was pretty nervous to attend the event in case she ran into Dolly Parton. She said she hasn’t spoken to Dolly in 10 years, ever since she accidentally set a small fire in Dolly’s home!
She opened up about the incident and explained why she is so embarrassed to see Dolly again. Ashley explained, “It had to do with some bagel bites and a microwave that became a fire and I unplugged the microwave and I ran it outside so that everything was okay, except for the freshly-wallpapered room, which I was there to babysit which is the whole reason I was there.”

She continued, “It’s embarrassing. I have not spoken to her since then. She gave me the microwave, and that’s the last conversation I had.” Ashley previously told the story on a podcast but did not say that Dolly was the one she was babysitting for.

While she may have ruined a friendship with Dolly, things aren’t all bad for Ashley. In addition to being nominated for CMA Awards, she was recently invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a very prestigious honor for country music artists. Her friend Garth Brooks delivered the news to her during a CBS Mornings interview. Ashley shared, “Garth has always been really nice to me. He never had to be, and I never asked him to be, he just naturally is a great guy.”
She continued, “To be invited to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry is the best thing that can ever happen to anyone in country music, and I’m really happy and tickled that Garth raised his hand and said, ‘I’d like to be the guy that lets her know that she is part of this family.’”
