Sylvester Stallone Says He Turned Down $34 Million Paycheck For Another ‘Rambo’

Sylvester Stallone has made several popular Rambo films but it turns out he could have made another worth $34 million. The 76-year-old said that he now regrets turning down such a huge paycheck in the ‘80s. With inflation, that paycheck would equal around $85 million now.

He explained, “I turned down 34. We were doing ‘Rambo III.’ We thought it was going to be the biggest hit — this was before it came out. And I was paid a fortune for it. Then they go, ‘We want ‘Rambo IV.’ Here it is: Pay or play, 34.’ I go, ‘Let’s not jump the gun here …’”

He added, “For real. That’s not a joke. Oh boy, what an idiot. Now I think about that and … wow.” Sylvester played John James Rambo in five films over the years. He shared that he is interested in doing one more Rambo film and he believes that it could happen in the next few years.

Sylvester said, “I think it’s going to happen. I wanted to do it like a Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam, where you drop young Rambo in there, and he’s this outgoing guy, football captain, and then you see why he becomes Rambo. But what they want to do is a modern-day story where I pass the torch. That’s getting close.”

Even though Sylvester regrets turning down the movie at the time, he said that he also wishes he would have spent more time with his family in the past. Now, he’s trying to turn things around. After almost getting divorced from his wife Jennifer Flavin, they are now patching things up and he’s doing a reality television show with his family.
