Chances are you’ve gotten at least one speeding ticket in your life if you drive regularly. Have you ever wondered how to avoid or get out of a ticket? We aren’t saying you should speed, but there are a few tips you can follow to avoid getting a speeding ticket.
Keep these tips in mind the next time you’re out for a drive. And obviously, drive safely!
1. Slow down near schools
Always stick to the exact speed limit near schools and make sure there isn’t a lower speed limit. Speed limits often change around schools during the morning and afternoon and police officers often sit by schools to catch those speeding.
2. Watch your speed in a junker car or a luxury car
If you are driving a really fancy, expensive car you might be more likely to be pulled over because the cop actually wants to check out your car! Same goes for a junker car but for different reasons. They might be able to give you tickets for other things besides speeding like broken taillights, no insurance, etc.
3. Don’t drive distracted
Cops are now looking out for distracted drivers more than ever. Don’t drive with your phone in your hand, eating or drinking or doing anything that could give you an additional ticket. Always make sure you have your seatbelt on as well.
4. Be careful if your registration or insurance is expired
You’ll want to drive very carefully and not take any chances if you know you’d get another ticket for your registration or insurance is expired.
If you do get pulled over, just be very polite. Stay in your car unless you are told to get out and just listen to the police officer and do whatever he says. If you have never gotten a speeding ticket before, plead your case quickly and as politely as possible. You may get out of a ticket if the cop is having a good day and you plead a good case.
