R. Lee Ermey, Golden Globe Nominee For ‘Full Metal Jacket,’ Dies At 74

by K. Gitter

Published April 15, 2018

It’s not a hoax.

At ease, Marine. https://t.co/m0GkdO5gUt https://t.co/m0GkdO5gUt

Saddened to hear of the passing of R. Lee Ermey. He was a brilliant actor. I used a quote of his from Full Metal Jacket for my senior year quote in high school, it’s safe to say the yearbook committee didn’t publish it.

The saddest of news today. The Marines have lost a legend. Rest In Peace.https://t.co/MH7XdViW00

I read once that the only 2 actors Stanley Kubrick ever allowed to improvise dialogue were Peter Sellers & R. Lee Ermey and we are all the better for it. Thank you Gunny.

Aww man,
R. Lee Ermey just passed away.

He voiced in quite a few games over the years

One being Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (2001) and Call of Duty Ghosts (2014) and fallout Tactics (2001)

R.I.P R. Lee Ermey. The story of how Kubrick plucked him out of obscurity (he was only on FULL METAL JACKET as a technical adviser for the boot camp scenes until Kubrick saw an instructional tape he'd put together of him berating extras) is Hollywood legend.

Damn it.
The great R. Lee Ermey died.
I remember seeing him in Full Metal Jacket not long before I went off to basic training!
Semper Fi, Gunny! pic.twitter.com/RjDobHfMlE
