6. Cadillac Ranch – Amarillo, Texas
This hefty art exhibition was erected in 1974, and was made the brainchild of an eccentric billionaire, whose intention was to baffle the locals of Amarillo. It has since become a popular tourist attraction, and makes for a great photo!
7. Winchester Mystery House – San Jose, California
This massive 10,000 window mansion was funded by Sarah Winchester, a rich heiress who apparently had the house constructed to appease bad spirits. These bad spirits must’ve had expensive tastes!
8. Duck March — Peabody Hotel, Memphis, Tennessee
For 90 years, this hotel has held an annual duck march, where the cute little things walk down the red carpet to the hotel’s lobby fountain. It started as a prank by a bunch of local hunters who set them loose in the hotel – but the guests loved them, and the rest is history.
9. Neptune Memorial Reef – Key Biscayne, Florida
This artificial reef is a tribute to the lost city of Atlantis. Those interested in being part of the display for eternity can have their cremated remains placed in the exhibit – hey, each to their own, I guess!
10. The albino squirrels of Olney, Illinois
The city of Olney has the largest known population of these cute critters in the country and holds an to make sure the population is thriving. It is against the law to harm a squirrel in the town, How could anyone do that anyway?! So cute.
