When Hudson asked Kurt what those lights were, it prompted Russell to report the sighting to ground control who said they had nothing on radar.
Russell and Hudson didn’t mention the sighting again until about two years later, he walked in to find his life-long partner, Goldie Hawn watching a show about UFOs and it featured the “Phoenix Lights” incident.
“I’d never thought about it since then,” the actor said as he realized, while watching the show, that he’d been the pilot who reported the sighting.
“The fascinating part to me is that it literally just went out of my head … had I not seen that show, I’d have never thought of it again,” he said.
