Henry Winkler’s Wife Playfully Reveals His ‘Biggest Lie’ After 48 Years of Marriage

Published September 15, 2026

After nearly five decades of marriage, the wife of Henry Winkler, Stacey Winkler, apparently still has a few things to learn about her husband—or at least about the size of the fish he catches. The longtime couple recently shared a playful disagreement over one of the actor’s favorite hobbies.

According to Page Six, during a joint podcast appearance, Stacey accused Henry Winkler of exaggerating the size of his fly-fishing catches. The Happy Days star immediately defended himself, turning the unexpected accusation into a funny glimpse at the easygoing relationship the couple still shares after 48 years together.

The exchange unfolded during an appearance on In Depth with Graham Bensinger. Stacey joked that her husband sometimes “rounds off” when describing his catches and teased that fish size might be his biggest area of exaggeration. Winkler seemed genuinely surprised by the accusation and insisted that he carefully records his catches in a book.

The teasing only continued from there. After the actor joked that he rounds numbers up only when donating to charity, Stacey suggested his biggest charity might actually be his fish measurements. Winkler responded with mock shock, saying that after celebrating 48 years of marriage, he had just discovered that his wife believed he padded his numbers.

Fly Fishing Became an Unexpected Passion For Henry Winkler

Fishing may provide the couple with plenty of jokes now, but the hobby did not come naturally to Winkler. The actor explained that his dyslexia and difficulties with hand-eye coordination initially made fly fishing intimidating. He questioned whether he could master it and admitted that he struggled when he first tried.

Eventually, the activity became what he described as a revelation, and Stacey often accompanies him on fishing trips. The story offers a lighter look at the man generations of viewers first knew as Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on Happy Days and later celebrated for performances in shows including Barry. Away from Hollywood, Henry Winkler has found something meaningful in an outdoor hobby he once doubted he could do. Stacey’s playful accusation also shows another side of their enduring marriage: after nearly half a century together, they can still surprise each other—and apparently still disagree about exactly how big the fish really was.
