Donna Mills’ Workout Routine At 85 Includes 100 Sit-Ups—And One Irresistible Snack

by Ruth A

Published September 10, 2026

Donna Mills is proving age hasn’t slowed her down much, especially when it comes to her ambitious workout routine—and appetite. At 85, the former Knots Landing star still follows a demanding fitness routine that includes sit-ups, leg lifts, cycling, stretching, and regular tennis matches.

The Donna Mills workout reflects habits she began developing long before she became a television favorite. Mills trained as a ballerina when she was younger, and she credits that experience with giving her the discipline to keep moving decades later. Still, she admits that staying active takes real effort.

Mills told Fox News Digital that she completes 100 sit-ups and 50 leg lifts a day, along with plenty of stretching. She also keeps a ballet barre in her home gym, giving her a way to maintain a connection to the training that first shaped her approach to fitness. On top of that, she spends between 45 minutes and an hour riding a bike.

Then there is tennis. Mills said she sometimes plays as often as five times a week, making the sport another major part of her routine. She believes her years of ballet helped prepare her for that level of consistency because the demanding art form taught her how to push through hard work. As she put it, maintaining this lifestyle requires dedication—it does not simply happen on its own.

Mills has followed a health-conscious diet for years, cutting back on sugar after reading Sugar Blues. Still, she admits to one longtime weakness: nacho cheese Doritos. Crews even learned to keep a bag in her trailer, though she says she now enjoys them only occasionally.

For longtime fans, Mills remains best known as Abby Cunningham on Knots Landing. But her background as a dancer helps explain the discipline behind the Donna Mills workout. Between ballet barre exercises, cycling, tennis, and daily core work, she stays active while still leaving room for the occasional bag of nacho cheese Doritos.
