Phil Collins is offering fans a hopeful update on his health after several difficult years filled with surgeries, mobility struggles, and ongoing medical complications. The legendary singer and drummer recently revealed that while his health problems once seemed overwhelming, the past year and a half have been much better, giving supporters renewed optimism about his well-being.
Although the music icon admitted he likely will not perform during his upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, he also made it clear that he has not completely closed the door on music or creative work in the future.
Phil Collins Says His Health Has Improved Significantly

Speaking in a new interview with the BBC, Phil Collins explained that there was a period when “everything healthwise caught up” with him all at once. Over the years, the former Genesis star has dealt with severe knee and back issues that eventually made drumming and touring increasingly difficult.

The singer shared that repeated knee surgeries created serious setbacks, including infections and complications that left him inactive for long stretches of time. Collins also previously revealed that years of drumming since childhood had taken a major physical toll on his body, particularly his hands and legs. Despite those struggles, the legendary performer now says things have stabilized considerably compared to previous years. While he still requires assistance walking, he described his current condition as much healthier than before and said the last 18 months have been “fine.”
The Rock Legend Still Has Interest In Music

Although Phil Collins confirmed he was invited to perform during his solo Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in November, he decided against returning to the stage because he did not feel physically prepared for rehearsals and live singing. Still, he hinted that music remains very much on his mind. According to PEOPLE, Collins revealed that he continues writing down lyrical ideas and has several unfinished songs waiting for him in his home studio. He admitted that returning to creative work is something he still thinks about regularly.
