Twisted Sister fans were stunned when Dee Snider, the band’s iconic frontman, announced his resignation. The decision forced the cancellation of the group’s planned 50th anniversary reunion shows, which the band had scheduled from April through early summer. Snider made the announcement publicly, citing serious health concerns that made performing at full intensity impossible.

At 70, Dee Snider explained that degenerative arthritis and multiple surgeries leave him in significant pain after just a few songs. Despite his love for performing, he admitted his body can no longer handle the high-energy shows Twisted Sister is famous for. Fans responded with concern but expressed admiration for his honesty and dedication to the band over decades.

In a personal statement, Dee Snider acknowledged that he must slow down on stage to protect his well-being. Twisted Sister confirmed on social media that the band will determine its future in the coming weeks. Snider’s decision affects both the reunion shows and potential future performances with the core lineup, which includes guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda, drummer Joe Franco, and bassist Russell Pzutto.

Dee Snider’s influence extends well beyond music. “We’re Not Gonna Take It” became a cultural and political anthem over the years. Snider acted to prevent former House Speaker Paul Ryan from using the song during the 2012 campaign and addressed its use at Donald Trump’s rallies in 2015. He consistently protects his music while shaping its public presence, proving his impact stretches far beyond the stage.
