‘The Sound Of Music’ Reunion In Salzburg Brings Beloved Von Trapp Children Back Together

It’s been 60 years since The Sound of Music first captured hearts around the world, but time hasn’t dimmed the magic of the Von Trapp family. This week, several of the original child stars from the 1965 classic gathered in Salzburg, Austria, for a heartwarming the Sound of Music reunion. According to Parade, the group—once known for their cherubic smiles and sweet harmonies—looked “better than ever” as they celebrated the film that made them household names.

Seeing the cast together again stirred deep nostalgia among fans who grew up watching Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer lead the family’s musical journey. Angela Cartwright, Debbie Turner, and Kym Karath were among those who reunited in Salzburg. Cartwright, who played Brigitta, is now a jewelry designer and artist, while Turner, who portrayed Marta, runs a successful floral and event design company. Karath, who was only five when she played Gretl, the youngest of the Von Trapp family, also joined the celebration. The trio’s smiles and laughter reflected a bond that time could never erase.

According to Parade, Karath also opened up about her life after the film’s release, including the challenges she faced growing up in Hollywood. Though she left acting for a time after facing personal hardship, her resilience shines through. Today, she continues to inspire others through her advocacy and her foundation work for families of children with disabilities.
