Jane Goodall’s Cause Of Death

The world continues to mourn Dr. Jane Goodall, the trailblazing primatologist and conservationist whose work forever changed the way people view animals and nature. People confirmed that Jane Goodall’s cause of death was cardiac arrest, also listed as cardiopulmonary arrest on her death certificate. She was 91. Epilepsy was also mentioned as a contributing condition.

According to People, the Jane Goodall Institute said she died peacefully in her sleep while on a speaking tour in Los Angeles. Her body was found the next morning in a private Beverly Hills home. The organization added that she remained active until her final day, still writing and preparing for upcoming events.

Jane Goodall’s cause of death surprised many, as she had been working right up until the night before she passed. Her longtime assistant, Mary Lewis, shared that Goodall was still editing a document at 10:30 p.m. “She was terribly busy,” Lewis recalled, noting her dedication even at 91.

Goodall was set to speak at UCLA on October 3 and attend a tree-planting ceremony in Pasadena. Her body was later cremated and returned to the United Kingdom, her birthplace. Despite her age, she continued to travel nearly 300 days a year, sharing her passion for wildlife conservation with people worldwide.

News of Jane Goodall’s cause of death led to a global wave of tributes. Known for her groundbreaking research on chimpanzees in Tanzania’s Gombe Stream National Park, Goodall reshaped the understanding of animal behavior and empathy. Her institute praised her as “a tireless advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural world.”

Friends said she was aware of her limits but never slowed down. Her final public appearances, including New York Climate Week, showed her strong commitment to environmental action.
