Donny Osmond is remembering his late brother with love and gratitude. On August 28, Donny shared a touching Instagram post to celebrate what would have been Wayne Osmond’s 74th birthday. Alongside photos, he recalled one of their final moments together when he returned a stage outfit Wayne had worn in the 1970s.
According to People, in his message, Donny wrote, “Happy birthday, my dear brother. Happy birthday, Wayne. I’m beyond grateful for the time we shared and the bond we’ll always have.” Wayne, an original member of The Osmonds, passed away on January 1 at age 73 after suffering a stroke. His death was confirmed by several siblings at the time.

Donny shared that he was able to visit Wayne Osmond in the hospital before he died, a memory he now treasures deeply. He described Wayne Osmond as someone who brought light, laughter, and optimism to everyone around him. Merrill Osmond also paid tribute on Facebook, remembering his brother as a man of humility, forgiveness, and unconditional love.
The Osmond family often spoke of Wayne Osmond’s ability to brighten any room he entered. His kindness left a lasting impression on friends, family, and fans alike. For Donny, the birthday tribute became another way to keep his brother’s legacy alive.
A Lasting Legacy in Music and Family
Wayne Osmond began his career in a barbershop quartet with brothers Alan, Merrill, and Jay. The group was discovered while singing at Disneyland in 1961, which led to regular appearances on The Andy Williams Show. Eventually, Donny, Jimmy, and sister Marie joined, creating one of the most famous family groups of the 1970s.
The Osmonds reached No. 1 in 1971 with “One Bad Apple,” and though they never officially disbanded, each sibling eventually pursued separate paths. Outside of music, Wayne built a life with his wife, Kathlyn White, whom he married in 1974. Together, they raised five children, creating a family bond as enduring as his music career.
