It has been nearly a week since Wayne Osmond died, and his brother Donny Osmond took to Instagram with a touching post the very next day—January 2nd. He posted a black and white throwback photo of Wayne, noting that he felt fortunate to have him as a sibling growing up.
Wayne died of a stroke, and Donny was lucky enough to visit him at the hospital before he took his final breath. “Wayne brought so much light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him, especially me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by everyone,” Donny added.

Donny’s post has received nearly nine thousand comments so far, mostly joining him to pay tribute to his late brother, who died at 73. “So sorry for your loss. Sounds like he was an amazing brother,” someone wrote, while Donny’s cousin Chris said Wayne was such light and laughter to everyone he came in contact with.
Melissa Osmond was also in the comments and left a heartwarming account of Wayne, which read, “The most amazing person! Always smiling and laughing!! He was always so kind!! So much love to everyone!!”
Wayne Osmond’s final moments
Wayne suffered multiple health challenges in his lifetime, including a brain tumor of which he was diagnosed in 1997. He underwent surgery that got rid of the tumor but cost him his hearing; however, this did not stop Wayne from performing or touring as he managed his partial deafness with a cochlear implant.
The late musician suffered a stroke in 2012, leaving him unable to play the guitar or even fly an aircraft like he could before. He had another, which led to his passing on New Year’s Day at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City with his wife and children surrounding him.
