Melanie Griffith‘s birthday celebrations brought together three generations of Hollywood icons this week. The 68-year-old actress marked the occasion alongside her mother, Tippi Hedren, and her daughter, Dakota Johnson, at Griffith’s Hollywood Hills home. All three women looked radiant as they were photographed outside the residence. One thing fans couldn’t get over was how young Melanie looked in these unedited, unfiltered photos.

Griffith wore a black gown with elegant elbow-length gloves, while Johnson, 35, chose a chocolate brown tank top and matching slacks. Hedren, 95, added a bright touch with a red hat, sunglasses, and a black sweater. The gathering was a rare public moment for the family, particularly Hedren, whose representatives confirmed earlier this year that she is living with dementia.

Melanie Griffith’s birthday gathering served as a reminder of the family’s remarkable Hollywood lineage. Hedren became a household name in 1963 after starring as Melanie Daniels in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. She later revealed that she loved the character’s name so much that she chose it for her own daughter.

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, Griffith’s career took root in the same industry she grew up around. She earned acclaim for films such as Working Girl and The Bonfire of the Vanities. Yet her connection to her mother runs deeper than shared fame. In 1981, the pair starred together in the now-infamous adventure film Roar, a project that would test both their dedication and their courage.

During Roar, Hedren and Melanie Griffith worked with more than 100 untrained lions, tigers, and leopards. Rather than keeping the animals only on set, the family even housed some of them at home. The choice created daily challenges and occasional dangers that became part of the movie’s legend.

Both actresses suffered serious injuries during filming. Hedren endured a leg fracture and a scalp wound, while Griffith required reconstructive surgery after being clawed in the face. Despite the chaos, the film became a cult classic and a lasting symbol of their adventurous spirit. Moments like the recent Melanie Griffith birthday celebration show that, through challenges and triumphs, this Hollywood family’s bond endures.
