Some of television’s most popular women from over the years are coming together this summer to star in a stage play that tells a very personal story. The show, called Pen Pals, opens August 15 at the DR2 Theatre in New York City and will feature different stars taking turns on stage through November 23.

Alongside telling a touching story, the production is also supporting a good cause. Five percent of every ticket sold and all donations from the audience will go to breast cancer research through a partnership with Susan G. Komen. The play is now open for ticket sales.

Pen Pals is a stage play that was written by Michael Griffo and directed by Suzanne Barabas. The story is inspired by real events and follows two women, Bernie and Mags, who keep in touch only through letters for 50 years. Even though they never meet face to face, they build a strong connection just by writing to each other.

Their letters show the ups and downs of their lives and how they stay close through every change. The play moves slowly and focuses on the words they write. Each scene shows their thoughts, emotions, and the bond they share without ever standing in the same room.
