Dolly Parton has finally answered the question fans have been asking since news broke about Jennifer Aniston’s remake of 9 to 5. She revealed that she, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin had tried several times to plan a second part of the movie, but nothing ever worked out. The original 9 to 5 was a comedy about three women working together to take down their rude and controlling boss.
The movie was a huge success, bringing in over $100 million worldwide. It even got nominated for an Oscar and led to a hit song, also called “9 to 5”, which became one of Dolly’s most famous tracks. Now, Jennifer Aniston’s production company, Echo Films, is working on a remake, with a script written by Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody.
Dolly Parton is offering her musical skills to the ‘9 to 5’ remake
Dolly Parton tells HuffPost that she doesn’t want to star in Jennifer Aniston’s ‘9 to 5’ remake:
“We have no plans to be in that. But I do wish her the best, because the script I read, I thought, was really good… But I think a lot of it is that, you know, we’re all older now.… pic.twitter.com/1vU7pIp5yv

Dolly may not be acting in the new film, but she’s more than happy to help with the music. She and Jennifer Aniston have been friends for a long time, and Dolly said she would gladly let them use her original song “9 to 5” in the film.
She also mentioned she could help write new music or even rework the old song if they need something fresh for the story. When asked who could play her old role as Doralee, Dolly didn’t name anyone in particular, but she believes Jennifer and her team will find the right person.
The original main cast won’t be appearing in the ‘9 to 5’ remake
Although fans were curious if Dolly, Jane Fonda, or Lily Tomlin might make a quick appearance in the remake, Dolly has now confirmed that there are no plans for that to happen. Dolly Parton explained that one reason for this decision is their age.
She joked that they’re all older now and probably wouldn’t look the same next to a younger cast. She also said that the script for the remake takes a fresh approach and updates the office story to match how people work today. She thinks it’s a good take on the original idea and supports the direction the team is going.
