Martha Stewart was on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, April 28, to talk about her new NBC show Yes, Chef!, which she co-hosts with José Andrés. The series features 12 chefs competing in different food challenges, and both Stewart and Andrés guide them through the process.
Stewart told Meyers she enjoyed working with Andrés, calling him charming and funny. She also shared that filming the show brought a few unexpected moments. One of them involved raccoons sneaking into the set, which reminded her of a very unusual dinner party she attended years ago.
Martha Stewart said Andres was surprised by the raccoons on the set
During the interview, Stewart talked about how raccoons kept showing up while filming Yes, Chef!. She said the animals were often heard walking across the roof, and it took a while before anyone believed they were really there. Eventually, the security cameras caught them going through the pantry before filming started.
The production team later removed the animals, but it became something people joked about throughout the shoot. Stewart said viewers might even hear a few raccoon-related comments in the show. When Meyers asked if the raccoons had anything to do with the food being made, she laughed and made it clear the chefs were not cooking anything that unusual.
Martha Stewart refused to try raccoon meat at another party
The raccoon talk brought back a memory for Stewart. She told Meyers she once attended a dinner party where raccoon meat was on the menu alongside chicken. While everyone else at the table gave it a try, Stewart refused to eat it. She said she doesn’t like eating animals that don’t usually show up on the dinner table.
Later, on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Stewart also revealed that she has never ordered food delivery in her life. The news surprised both Clarkson and Andrés, who asked for proof. Stewart stood by her claim and said her daughter Alexis could confirm it. Clarkson laughed and told her she’s ordered enough food for both of them.
