Pat Sajak officially stepped away from Wheel of Fortune in 2024, after hosting the game show for over four decades. Since 1981, he had been the face of the popular show, standing beside Vanna White spinning the wheel, and guiding contestants through puzzles.
When he passed the torch to Ryan Seacrest, who joined White as the new co-hosting team, many thought Sajak would quietly settle into retirement. Instead, he’s staying busy with new projects that show a completely different side of him; most prominently Pat Sajak will star in a production called Prescription: Murder. The former host is still very much in the spotlight.
Pat Sajak is returning to the theaters with ‘Prescription: Murder’
This summer, Sajak will headline Prescription: Murder at the Hawaii Theatre Center. The play is based on the original story that inspired the Columbo TV series. It follows a smart psychiatrist who plots with his mistress to kill his wife. The character uses a fake identity to try and cover up the crime, leading to a cat-and-mouse investigation by Lieutenant Columbo, played by Joe Moore.
Sajak will play the lead role of the psychiatrist, while his longtime stage partner Joe Moore will play the detective. They’ve acted together in several past productions, including The Odd Couple and The Sunshine Boys. The show runs from July 31 to August 10, 2025, and all net proceeds will go to support the Hawaii Theatre Center.
Pat Sajak is hosting the final episode of ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’
Sajak is also returning to the small screen for one final time. He will host the new season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, which premieres on April 30 on ABC. This will be the fifth and final season featuring Sajak, as celebrities compete to win money for charity.

Aside from his work on the stage and in TV specials, Sajak is enjoying retirement. While he doesn’t post often on social media, fans have spotted him a few times on his daughter Maggie’s Instagram. He’s also been seen attending baseball games and spending time with family.
