Full House star Dave Coulier recently experienced what he describes as one of the most unforgettable days of his life. The 65-year-old actor shared during an episode of How Rude, Tanneritos!, hosted by former co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, that two major life events happened almost simultaneously: he was declared cancer-free and became a grandfather.
The special day was March 26, when Coulier received news from his doctors that he had officially beaten stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Just as the relief of that moment settled in, his son, Luc, called to share that his baby boy had arrived. For Coulier, the timing was nothing short of surreal. It was a moment full of joy and the evidence of his personal determination, resilience, and support from his wife and loved ones.
Dave Coulier’s cancer journey
Dave Coulier has been open about his battle with cancer. The unexpected journey began in October 2024 when a persistent cold became more serious and doctors found swollen lymph nodes linked to an upper respiratory infection. Coulier was then diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma. But this news was a heavy blow to him and his wife, Melissa Bring.
When he first shared the diagnosis publicly in November, Coulier described the previous few months as difficult. Despite the physical challenges of chemotherapy and the emotional toll, he relied on the help of his family and friends, particularly Melissa and son Luc, whom he shares with his former wife, Jayne Modean.
Two bits of good news at once
Dave Coulier’s health struggle ended remarkably. The Full House alum received a cancer-free diagnosis some hours before he was informed about the birth of his grandson. Though the journey was rough, Coulier maintained a positive mindset, focusing on recovery for himself and the people who love him most.
Coulier’s grandson, Chance Lee, was born to Luc and his wife, Alex, on March 27. Chance arrived healthy, weighing 7 pounds and 6 ounces. Coulier plans to meet his grandson later this month in Sacramento, where Luc and his family reside. And even after his recovery, Coulier continues to use his platform to encourage others facing similar health battles.
