For fans of the beloved sitcom Full House, the picturesque San Francisco townhouse that appeared in exterior shots of the show has always been a nostalgic landmark. Recently, that very home sold for a hefty $6 million, closing a chapter nearly a year after being listed.
Jeff Franklin, the show’s original creator, purchased the home in 2016 for $4 million with plans to recreate the sitcom’s set interiors and open it to fans. Those plans didn’t materialize, so Franklin remodeled the home with a contemporary design while keeping the famous façade nearly intact. Franklin eventually sold the property in 2020 for $5.35 million.
The ‘Full House’ home scenes on the show were filmed somewhere else

Although the exterior of the house at 1709 Broderick Street became instantly recognizable as the Tanner family’s home, none of the sitcom’s indoor scenes were actually filmed there. All of the show’s interior moments, those in the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms, were staged at a Los Angeles studio.
That hasn’t stopped dedicated fans from making the trip to take photos outside the house. The opening credits of Full House are actually a mashup of different San Francisco locations. While the Tanner family is seen enjoying a picnic at Alamo Square in front of the famous Painted Ladies, the house used for the show’s exterior shots is located about a mile north of there.
What does the ‘Full House’ home actually look like?
Though the outside still resembles the classic ’80s TV look, the inside tells a completely different story. The three-story Victorian home has been reimagined with modern luxury in mind. A bright living room welcomes guests with high ceilings, white Da Vinci marble around the fireplace, and a flood of natural light from tall windows.
The kitchen is a showstopper, featuring Calacatta Oro marble countertops and a large island, top-tier Viking appliances, a wine fridge, and a walk-in pantry. Upstairs, the primary suite includes its own fireplace and a spa-style bathroom. Downstairs, there’s a private guest suite, a cozy entertainment room, a home gym, and a manicured garden styled in English fashion.
