The legal dispute between the family of late fitness icon Richard Simmons, who passed away on July 13, 2024, at his Los Angeles home, and his longtime housekeeper, Teresa Reveles, does not seem to be ending anytime soon. Reveles, who had worked for Simmons for more than three and half decades, had previously filed a petition in a Los Angeles Superior Court to be reinstated as a co-trustee of Simmons’s estate, claiming she was pressured into giving up her role as co-trustee by Simmon’s brother, Leonard Simmons and his wife, Cathy.
However, things have taken a new turn. Leonard Simmons has filed a countersuit against the housekeeper, accusing her of stealing some valuable pieces of Simmon’s personal possessions that have mysteriously disappeared.
Leonard Simmons accuses Richard Simmons’ housekeeper Theresa Reveles of theft

Leonard filed a petition on March 18 to sue Reveles for allegedly taking valuable items belonging to his deceased brother without permission. The court documents revealed that Reveles allegedly removed over $1 million worth of jewelry, handwritten lyrics for an unfinished musical composed by Richard, his personal computer, signature workout attire, collectible dolls, and several pieces of fine art.
Leonard claimed he only became aware of the missing items after he instructed the housekeeper to leave Simmon’s home.
Theresa Reveles denies Leonard’s claims and says the jewelry was a gift from Richard Simmons
Responding to the allegations, Reveles denied being in possession of any of Simmon’s belongings except the jewelry he gifted her during Thanksgiving in 2014.
She recounted that Simmons brought several pieces downstairs to the kitchen and placed them on the table before personally putting a pink diamond ring on her finger, insisting it was hers, which she accepted. The controversy continues, and until the law weighs in on it, there is no current speculation on who will win the lawsuit.
